DRC is looking for a highly qualified, self-motivated Liaison Office Coordinator able to work with a diverse team of International and national staff as well as government bodies, departments, UN agencies and NGOs within the sector, and partners. This is a highly competent proactive individual, who is expected to work independently, running the liaison office and tasks in Dhaka with reporting to the Team Leader/Country Representative based in Cox’s Bazar.
Job Purpose
The Liaison Office Coordinator (LOC) will represent DRC Bangladesh in an administrative and liaison capacity at Dhaka level, due to its proximity with the government departments, to ensure timely and effective processing of necessary permits, authorisations, developing and maintaining good relationships with the relevant bodies at Dhaka level. The LOC will maintain regular contacts with relevant ministries as well as provide up to date guidance on any changes in the legal framework, supported by an external legal advisor. Periodically, support will be required with the coordination of international staff transiting through Dhaka. The LOC will be required to continuously maintain an up to date track of staff visas, permits, and renewals. The LOC will be further required to proactively support the Finance, Administration, HR, Logistics, and Procurement departments in tasks they may need completed at Dhaka level.
Qualifications Required
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of Bangladeshi administration and official procedures
- Excellent knowledge of and previous work or liaison with relevant public offices with whom DRC works (such as NGOAB, MoFA, MoDMR, MoHA)
- Hands on experience of administrative processes around NGO registration and visa processing for international staff in Bangladesh
- University degree in law, human resources, public or business administration, policy or related field and/or equivalent practical experience.
- Fluent in spoken English and strong writing and reporting skills.
- Experience working with an INGO or international organization in Bangladesh. (Desirable)
- Strong knowledge of Bangladesh legal and policy framework as relates to international organisations and humanitarian response
