Founded in 2002, by President William J. Clinton and Ira C. Magaziner, the Clinton Health Access Initiative, Inc. ("CHAI"?) is a global health organization committed to saving lives, reducing the burden of disease and strengthening integrated health systems in the developing world.
In 2014, CHAI established a partnership with the Ministry of Health (MOH) in Lao PDR to provide technical assistance focused on strengthening the National Malaria Control Program (CMPE). The activities are focused on improving operational planning, epidemiological analysis, resource mobilization and supply management. In late 2017, CHAI plans to extend its current support for malaria elimination to the provinces of: Attapeu, Champasak, Saravan, Sekong and Savanhakhet.
Summary of Position:
CHAI is seeking a highly qualified and motivated individual with strong analytical and quantitative skills to provide support to improve the operations of the Ministry of Health focused on the Malaria Program. This includes conducting analysis on epidemiological, logistics, operational and financial data, drafting proposals and reports, presenting and sharing findings from projects with senior management at provincial level and at CMPE in order to define targeted interventions.

The Malaria Analyst will be based in Vientiane, Lao PDR with some travel to provide operational support to the provincial- and district-level anti-malarial stations. The Malaria Analyst will report to the CHAI Malaria Program Manager.
- Support the CHAI Malaria Program Manager to drive operational excellence through analytics, develop programs strategy and ensure that the program is on track to achieve its objectives
- Support Epidemiology Unit to conduct routine analysis of monthly data to target interventions and respond to potential outbreaks
- Lead data-driven initiatives to increase nationwide testing of malaria and improve commodities flow to health facilities
- Assist in developing district malaria commodities distribution plans
- Assist in developing operational plans and quarterly work plans to streamline operations at central-, provincial- and district-levels.
- Support the development of training materials and trainings to build the capacity of provincial and district staff
- Co-ordinate with other local and international development partners to leverage complimentary expertise, funding and/or relationships.
- Analyze and draw conclusions from large volumes of data, inform strategic decision-making and assess the impact of CHAI's work
- Develop communication materials based upon analyses
- Present analytical findings to internal and external audiences
Perform other tasks as necessary
Bachelor's degree or higher in relevant field such as economics, finance, business or public health
Minimum 3-5 years of work experience in a fast paced, results oriented work environment, either public or private sector
Excellent analytical (qualitative and quantitative) skills
Proficient problem solving skills, including previous experience working in Excel and Power Point
Strong written and oral communication skills in English, including the ability to prepare compelling presentations and program planning and memo documents
Strong diplomatic and interpersonal skills, and the ability to build professional and collaborative relationships
Ability to handle multiple work streams in parallel, set priorities and work independently and quickly
Public health degree an advantage, but not required
Lao language an advantage
