GENERAL ASSIGNMENT: With the supervision of the Field Coordinator, the Manager Communication will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive communications strategy to promote Action Contre la Faim (ACF) programming in Cox’s base. You will provide guidance and support to staff and put in place a mechanism for implementing the Communications strategy at field level. As part of the role, you will lead ACF communication with communities’ activities in field level.

Through networking and building of external relationships and public speaking you will ensure that ACF is directly engaged in dialogue and discussions to influence policy and practices, wherever possible, in relation to the impact population groups where we work.

In order to accomplish the above, you will form and maintain a thorough understanding of Action Contre la Faim history, values, culture, policies, long-term programming strategies, comparative advantage, and core business.

More precisely, you will be in charge of:

Contribute to improve internal Communication system, capacity of ACF - Bangladesh and leadcommunications planning & implementation in Cox’s Bazar

  • Develop communication tools to establish a functioning and effective internal communications system as communications focal at Cox’s Bazar base.
  • Work closely and lead, when required, with programs to organize of team building events, workshops, and other events to highlight ACF's work (eg. case stories, best practices, etc.).
  • Actively contribute & support Communications & Advocacy unit in the development of communications strategy and guidelines for Cox’s Bazar base in line with ACF’s country & global strategy.
  • Participate in relevant training/workshop(s) for professional growth and to improve understanding on ACF’s programming, policies to be able to actively contribute.
  • Actively identify communications needs at Cox’s Bazar base and conduct trainings for internal capacity building on communications (eg. brand guidelines, how to take good pictures or write case stories).
  • Act as the focal for standardizing and ensuring brand visibility of ACF and donors in all communications materials, including publications, banners.

External Communication: Media Management and Coordination/Liaison

  • Participate in external platforms and networks to represent and promote ACF messages and coordinate when required.
  • Support and coordinate with ACF’s Communication & Advocacy team to highlight Cox’s Bazar programs in national and international platforms.
  • Coordinate with programs to improve ACF engagement with local and national media in Cox’s Bazar level (eg. Press release and press invitations).
  • Manage media queries and media relations, organise media visits to Action Against Hunger fields and organise media interviews.
  • Identify opportunities to highlight ACF’s work in the media.
  • Support Field Coordinator and Senior Manager: Communication & Advocacy to improve organisational capacity on communication, documentation and branding through training sessions.
  • Organise events to highlight ACF’s activities.

Communication with Communities (CwC): Project Management, Reporting & Documentation

Communications with Communities (CwC) is a growing field in our programming and as manager communication for the Cox’s Bazar base, you are expected to lead CwC activities in Cox’s Bazar in coordination with program teams and with close technical support from ‘Communications & Advocacy unit’ of ACF - Bangladesh.

  • Lead planning and implementation of Communication with Communities activities in Cox’s Bazar.
  • Supervise CwC field staff and ensure smooth implementation of CwC activities (eg. Information centres) and delivery of high quality program.
  • Support CwC mainstreaming in ACF’s programming, led by ‘Communications & Advocacy unit’.
  • Contribute in Communication/Visibility sections of donor reports and support senior management to produce high quality reports.
  • Coordinate with ACF’s partner agencies on effective and efficient implementation of CwC activities in Cox’s Bazar.
  • Ensure proper monitoring and evaluation mechanisms for CwC activities.
  • Ensure CwC specific activities are properly documented and capitalized.
  • Act as key focal for Communications with Communities (CwC) in Cox’s Bazar.
  • Team management (leadership, monitoring, reporting, evaluation and administration)

DEGREE AND SKILLS REQUIRED

Masters in Mass Communication, Social Science, Development Studies or any relevant subject.

Experience and required skills:

  • Minimum of 4 years working experience with an international organization in a relevant position.
  • Extensive experience and demonstrated skills in working with the media, NGOs, government officials.
  • Knowledge and experience in liaison with GoB and NGO counterparts and development partners; able to coordinate with appropriate stakeholders.
  • Creativity and initiative in identifying public affairs/advocacy opportunities and needs.
  • Ability to act as an ACF ambassador.
  • Experience on institutionalize system of communication across the staffs, partners and communities related to program development, learning and advocacy activities.

COMPENSATION PACKAGE:

  • Monthly Salary: BDT 70, 332
  • Other benefits: As per Action Against Hunger policy
