The role

The Health Technical Advisor will provide clear strategic direction for the delivery of the health response, working closely with the Nutrition and WASH TAs to ensure an integrated public health response. The Health Lead will ensure that the delivery of primary health care interventions, are of a quality standard by working closely with the EHU OPS lead and Clinical lead. The Senior Health Program Manager will work alongside the Health Technical Advisor to support on the delivery of the health strategy, to ensure clinical staff are trained and well being considered.

This role will report to the Deputy Team Leader - Programme Development and Quality (PDQ) and work closely with the Director of Health, Nutrition and HIV, based in Dhaka to ensure that MoH guidelines and protocols are followed by the medical teams.

This role will also involve representation of the organisation in various forum including Health Sector Working Group, Health SAG and the SRH working group.

Proposal development and ensuring donor compliance is also a critical element of this role.

Qualifications and experience

Essential

· MPH or equivalent

· Significant experience working in an emergency response contexts, specifically in relation to health in emergencies programmes

· Previous first phase emergency response experience as a health team lead

· Solid experience of managing/coordinating a team

· Solid experience of project management

· Experience of and commitment to working through systems of community participation and accountability

· Demonstrated monitoring and evaluation skills

· Experience of preparing successful funding proposals for donors, particularly experience working with ECHO, DFID and PRM

· Ability to write clear and well-argued assessment and project reports

· Excellent communication skills

· Strong influencing skills and experience in advocacy

· Politically and culturally sensitive with qualities of patience, tact and diplomacy

· A high level of written and spoken English

· The capacity and willingness to be extremely flexible and accommodating in difficult and sometimes insecure working circumstances.

· Commitment to the aims and principles of SC. In particular, a good understanding of the SC mandate and child focus and an ability to ensure this continues to underpin our support

Contract length: Fixed term for 6 months with possibilities for extension
