PSI, together with a team of international and local partners, will implement the USAID-funded Advancing UHC in Bangladesh (AUHC) project to transform the world's largest NGO network of maternal and health clinics across 64 districts in Bangladesh into a sustainable, pro-poor social enterprise, the Surjer Hashi Network (SHN), to advance the country's progress toward universal health coverage.

We are looking for an experienced and creative Marketing Advisor who is passionate about making markets work for a social cause, delivered through a sustainable business model to help us with the network transformation. In this role you will effectively plan, develop and implement all strategic marketing activities aimed at accelerating the transition of the network to achieve a sustainable health service delivery network that meets the needs of the poor in Bangladesh while increasing its long-term prospects through an expanded revenue base. If you are an entrepreneurial person who thrives on creating marketing strategies to build brands, understands how to leverage market and consumer insights to unlock growth, enjoys managing a P&L, and can design and execute a strategy - read on! No relocation costs will be supported with this position.

Your contribution

In this role you will effectively plan, develop and implement all strategic marketing activities:

  1. STRATEGIC PLANNING

  2. Develop in conjunction with aligned internal and external teams (including sales, research, media, channel partners and creative agencies), detailed marketing plans for all brands, including the umbrella Surjer Hashi brand, to deliver business performance.

  3. Bring advanced brand and category management thinking to existing and new portfolios of products and service packages to meet business targets and ensure growth through increasing product sales and service uptake.

  4. Ensure rigor in the marketing planning process to achieve business marketing and financial goals.

  5. Increase data-driven decision making, resulting in better consumer and market insight, as well as enhanced use of routine monitoring data.

  6. BRAND & CATEGORY MANAGEMENT

  7. Brief, evaluate, approve and lead consumer, trade and provider marketing activities including (but not limited to) the following: mass media, in-clinic and –community promotions, innovative out of home/digital media.

  8. Leverage data driven insights to maximise SHG brand visibility and desirability by driving strategic decision-making decisions relating to the 4 P's.

  9. Drive development and implementation of a market and consumer insight based innovation pipeline by:

    • Developing a compelling position and campaigns to drive success of the launch of SHG, including service packages and an upgraded consumer experience.
    • Identifying and evaluating key innovation opportunities to enhance the product portfolio.
    • Coordination of the marketing component of innovation projects.
  10. Guide the sales forecasting process for all products sold and (paid-for) services delivered with increasing precision and accuracy.

  11. Evaluate and report on brand performance – identifying gaps and recommending remedial action where necessary.

  12. NETWORK DEVELOPMENT

  13. Educate SHN staff on the benefits of implementing service packages and ancillary products.

  14. Educate SHN providers and their staff on optimal use of clinic-based marketing activities.

  15. Develop new, creative and effective marketing collateral for SHN providers and staff to reach targeted market segments.

  16. Generate all SHN marketing and training materials, in conjunction with other project leaders.

  17. FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT

  18. Responsible for prudently managing Marketing budgets:

  19. In conjunction with AUHC project leadership, develop monthly phased marketing activity / expenditure budget aimed at achieving growth objectives - as part of the annual brand plans and budget process.

  20. Manage marketing budget and reconcile actual spend versus budget.

  21. INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT

  22. Develop an effective ongoing relationship with the internal business management team as well as external partners such as pharma and FMCG manufacturers and distributors.

  23. Nurture effective working relationships with key external business partners including research agencies, media firms, and creative agencies.

What are we looking for?

  • You have BA/BS degree or higher, preferably in marketing or business.
  • You have minimum 5 years successful background experience in consumer-facing product and/or service delivery marketing and management.
  • You have marketing and business strategy development experience, including portfolio management and P&L.
  • You have had responsibility for product and portfolio level sales volume and value performance.
  • You have had responsible for delivering return on investment on marketing budgets.
  • You have consumer and market research experience.
  • You are a Bangladeshi national.
  • You have English language spoken and written fluency.
  • References will be required.
