The role
We are currently looking for CLINICAL Specialist to be based in Cox's Bazar district, Ukhia and Teknaf upazillas.
Role Purpose
The Clinical Specialist will be part of the Health team, and responsible to ensure provision of high quality standard clinical care services at the SCI health facilities. He/she will train and mentor the clinical team, ensuring adherence to clinical protocols. The scope of services at health facility level includes case management of communicable diseases; management of non-communicable diseases; child health, including vaccinations and neonatal health, utilising IMNCI protocols; Reproductive Health following comprehensive MISP; MHPSS focussing on PFA and referral; and integration of Infant and Young Child Feeding in Emergencies with MUAC screening and referral to OTP or SCs as required.
S/he is accountable for quality of care and will lead the technical oversight of the health facilities including reviewing and revising clinical guidelines, oversight of all clinical cases and referrals and capacity building and mentoring of national staff. The Clinical Lead will be line managed by the Health Technical Advisor but and will also have dotted line to the Health Manager
This position will not be providing direct patient care, and will focus main efforts on supportive supervision, on the job training and in general capacity development of the clinical team in preparation for nationalization of all clinical positions. This role will also involve representation of the organisation on occasion.
Qualifications and experience
Essential
- Qualified doctor registered with international equivalents, and currently practicing.
- At least 5 years of post graduate clinical experience
- Registered with own country general medical council.
- At least 5 years experience of delivering health programmes in humanitarian settings
- Previous experience of clinical team management
- Previous experience with conducting clinical trainings, including in-service trainings in resource poor settings.
- Experience in primary health care, general practice, and medicine including maternity and IPD services
- Experience in set up and running of clinical health services.
- Ability to reflect on and learn from personal and programme performance and act upon lessons learnt.
- Able and willing to travel to remote and insecure locations for periods of time and at short notice.
- Strong communication skills, with excellent written and spoken English including clinical terminology.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to work in and maintain a positive team dynamic in a challenging environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-cultural environment, and establish harmonious and effective working relationships both within and outside the organization
Desirable Skills
- Knowledge of Bangla language/ experience in similar cultural contexts
- Understanding of complexity of host community/ refugee dynamics
- Experience in implementation of EPI programme and vaccination campaigns.
- Experience in paediatrics and Infectious disease control.
- Experience in working in treatment centres/units particularly Cholera Treatment centres.
- Experience in working in a district hospital including management and clinical care
- Strong knowledge of Save the Children systems and ways of working.
Contract length: 6 months Long Term Position
