ABOUT THE MISSION IN BANGLADESH

SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL (SI) opened its mission in Bangladesh at the end of 2007, following cyclone SIDR.

SI’s intervention and strategy in Bangladesh is to address primary needs of crisis affected people in terms of food security, livelihood, disaster risk reduction (DRR), water, hygiene and sanitation (WASH) and shelter, by making use of an integrated disaster risk reduction approach and by taking into account the effects of climate change, whilst working in parallel on mid-long term resilience strategies.

The mission:

The mission coordination is based in Dhaka with operations bases in Bandarban and Cox’s bazar/ Teknaf.

The mission has gone through a massive scale up dut the changes of the humanitarian context in october 2017 and to the important emergency responses implemented. It now needs to be structured and reinforced.

The programs:

Si operates in various sector including: WASH, protection, DRR, Shelter, Food security and livelihood, contyingency, out of camp site management, and distributions.

ABOUT THE JOB...

The goal of this position is to offer guidance and support to the Logistics Coordinator in the following areas:

  • Operational Strategy Development and Planning
  • Capacity Building Strategy for National Log Teams
  • Leadership and performance management of log teams
  • Objective setting and performance follow up of LogCo in collaboration with CD and Desk Logistician
  • Act as a resource for best practice advice to the LogCo

List of main tasks:

Operational Strategy Development and Planning

  • Advise the LogCo on the proper considerations to be taken when developing an annual operational strategy.
  • Support the LogCo in developing a draft operational strategy and work plan

Capacity Building Strategy for National Log Teams

  • Support the LogCo in developing a training needs assessment and plan of the national logistics team
  • Leadership and performance management of log teams
  • Advise the LogCo on how to enhance performance management of the logistics team and how to measure performance indicators to track the long term development of the department.

Objective setting and performance follow up of LogCo in collaboration with CD and Desk Logistician

  • In collaboration with the Desk Logistician and CD define set performance indicators for the LogCo to achieve on a regular basis

Act as a resource for best practice advice to the LogCo

  • Through informal discussion and/or ad-hoc mini-sessions offer support and guidance to the LogCo on any of the traditional areas of Logistics, based upon request of LogCo (fleet, energy, supply, IT, etc.)

YOUR PROFILE

  • 3 years of logistics management experience with at least 1 years’ experience at a management/ coordination level and 2 year in an international (i.e. not home country) context
  • A degree in Logistics, Engineering, Business, or related field
  • English proficiency
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft packages, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Knowledge of security management systems and approaches for NGO’s
  • Ability to integrate into the local environment, taking account of its political, economic and historical characteristics
  • Appropriate skills and experience in the capacity building and training of staff
  • Resilience to stress
  • Ability to work under own initiative.

SI WILL OFFER YOU ...

A salaried post: according to experience from 2640 euros gross per month (2400 euros base salary + 10% annual leave allowance paid monthly) with a monthly perdiem .

Social and medical cover: Expatriates benefit from an insurance package which reimburses all healthcare expenses (including medical and surgical expenses, dental care and ophthalmological expenses, repatriation) and a welfare system including war risks. Essential vaccination and antimalarial treatment costs are refunded
