Objectives
Immediate objectives:
Listening to and acting on children’s perspectives on climate change.Providing children and youth with climate change education, awareness raising and training.Aligning and coordinating work on climate change adaptation, preparedness and disaster risk reduction at national and sub-national levels.Mid-range objectives:
Protecting children and their families who are forced to move as a result of climate change.Investing in children as part of national climate plans on mitigation and adaptation.Scale-up proven approaches to address the changing needs of children.Children deserve to live in a world free from the life-threatening effects of climate change. Given the overwhelming scientific evidence on the dangers of climate change, and the clear opportunities we have for altering its course, there is no excuse for not acting ambitiouslyPrioritizing the needs of the most vulnerable in climate change adaptation efforts, particularly children who will bear the brunt of climate change far longer than adults.How can you make a difference?
Deliverables/Outputs:
Produce 5 short video stories on the consequences of climate change on children and their parents.Production of 5 short video stories on migration from climate change affected areas to urban contextsA youth led and filmed documentary demonstrating the impact of climate change on their own lives and livelihoods.""The produced doc will be presented by UNICEF and the World Bank at various climate related events.Production of a 12-minute film on child friendly cities in BangladeshEditing and post-production work.To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…
An advanced university degree (Master’s or higher) in Social Science, Public Relations, International Affairs or any other related fieldA minimum of [8 years] of relevant professional experience in in field work. Demonstrated experience in writing on children issues. Proficient in use of MS Word, Publisher, Excel and other related software packages. At least one instance of exposure to emergency programming. Active involvement in a humanitarian crisis response programme preferred.Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergency is considered an asset.Fluency in English is required.
