Duration: 12 months

Reports to: Health and Nutrition Program Manager

Position Summary: In December 2017, RI began lifesaving health and nutrition programs in Cox’s Bazaar in response to the massive influx of Rohingya refugees from Myanmar. The program rapidly scaled up by partnering with UHCR, UNICEF with potential funding from private donors and ECHO. Due to this rapid scale up, the health and nutrition program is in need of systems support for clinical services.

Position Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Assist Program Manager to ensure implementation of programs in line with the approved project proposal and budget, anticipating and communicating issues/problems in advance to PM.
  • Provide technical assistance to health and nutrition projects in close collaboration with the medical coordinator, including development of SOPs and assurance of best practice.
  • Contribute to report writing, proposal development, and budget review/drafting during program extensions and revisions.
  • Assist in ensuring quality of the program through compliance and adherence to Relief International, Donor and National policies, procedures and guidelines, as well as internationally recognized standards (e.g. the Sphere standards).
  • Support the project teams in the fulfilment of their duties according to program requirement in particular providing supervision, direction, coaching, mentoring and training based on capacity needs of staff.
  • Coordinate all trainings across the staff to ensure there are no gaps in knowledge and skills.
  • Management of the MMTs and preparedness for emergency response if needed.
  • Provide support to the medical team within the field through regular supervisory visits and meetings with the Health Program Manager
  • Coordinate with the PM, Med Co and Operations to ensure that medical and nutrition stocks, supplies and other logistic supports are properly planned, procured, stored, distributed and managed, to avoid stock outs.
  • As requested represent RI at relevant coordination and technical meetings.
  • Support the preparation and submission of donor reports.

Qualifications & requirements:

This position demands a dynamic individual with a demonstrated ability to achieve results in a demanding and fast paced environment.

  • Medical doctor or qualified nurse with a Masters in Public Health or equivalent.
  • Minimum of three years clinical experience with at least one year of program experience.
  • Proven experience of using appropriate management tools to ensure effective running of the programs, staff management and development.
  • Experience supporting health teams with the ability to motivate and encourage staff.
  • Experience in training and capacity building.
  • Experience with health systems such as HMIS, pharmacy management, disease surveillance.
  • Excellent ability and flexibility to understand the cultural and political environment in areas in which RI works.
  • Ability to work independently and also as a collaborative team member in complex and often difficult operating environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, tasks efficiently with strong attention to detail;
  • Ability to think critically and creatively
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including patience, diplomacy, willingness to listen and respect colleagues.
  • Experience living or working in different / challenging cultures and countries.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, stressful environment.
  • Confident and proficient in the use of MS Office, especially Word and Excel and statistical packages.
  • An understanding of and commitment to Relief International’s mission and values.
  • Must be flexible, willing to perform other duties and work irregular hours.
