Our Team

The Campaigns Team is a dynamic team of policy, media and communications staff working on the Rohingya Response in Bangladesh. The team works in coordination with the country Policy, Advocacy, Campaigns and Communications team as well as with Regional and Global programme teams to define advocacy influencing and campaigns strategies to improve the lives of Rohingya refugees and the host community in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh.

The Role:

Oxfam GB is looking for an experienced Policy Lead to generate high quality briefings and analysis to support Oxfam’s Rights in Crisis campaign and the humanitarian response to the Rohingya crisis in Cox's Bazar. The role will support the delivery of national and regional advocacy strategies and support fundraising needs. Specifically, this job will also support the global Rights in Crisis Campaigns Team to deliver messages to priority targets and markets around the world on the situation of Rohingya refugees and affected host communities in Bangladesh

What we are looking for:

We are looking confident and motivated self-starter with proven international experience and exposure to a wide range of humanitarian assistance and related global displacement issues, preferably with knowledge of INGO humanitarian operations and IHL/refugee law.

Experience working on policy in areas of forced migration including a comprehensive understanding of relevant international law, humanitarian standards and policies as they relate to forced migrants.

Minimum of honours degree in related field of international development, relations, politics, or related fields.

Knowledge and understanding of the Rohingya situation and experience of working on the issue and/or in the region

Experience in managing large amounts of information, and ability to summarise and make sense of it quickly.

Experience of providing succinct written outputs at short notice such as factsheets/briefings etc

Experience in managing risk in a fast-paced and complex humanitarian and political landscape, including ability to analyse and articulate the humanitarian dimension of complex issues.

Highly articulate, and proven writing skills to produce succinct, authoritative letters and presentations, articles for range of audiences.

High levels of organisation and strong planning skills, understanding how to plan and implement a strategy and capable of working independently

High levels of verbal and written communication skills, with an emphasis on a clear and direct, easy to read written style.

Strong inter-personal skills and ability to work well in hard working response and global teams.

Ability to work effectively and calmly in a high-pressure environment and to prioritise and manage assignments in a timely fashion

Commitment to Oxfam’s overall aims, policies and values.

Experience of promoting gender equity and diversity and the interests of marginalised people in all aspects of Oxfam’s work

Diplomacy, tact, negotiation skills and an excellent sense of humour.

Sensitivity to cultural differences and the ability to create effective teams and work with external actors in a range of contexts.
