Bangladesh: Director, Ultra-Poor Graduation Programme, BRAC and BRAC International

In 2002, BRAC pioneered the Graduation approach in Bangladesh to tackle ultra poverty. Over the next 16 years, BRAC’s flagship Ultra-Poor Graduation programme has lifted more than 1.8 million households out of the direct forms of poverty and depravation. In this time, BRAC has continued to adapt the Graduation approach to meet the changing needs of people living in ultra poverty in Bangladesh and around the world.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership to BRAC’s Ultra-Poor Graduation programmes in Bangladesh and globally, consisting of more than 2,000 staff and an annual budget of over $50m.
  • Raise significant resources from existing and new donors to continue programming at scale in Bangladesh and beyond.
  • Set objectives and ensure performance against those objectives of a strong senior team.
  • Strengthen monitoring and evaluation so that programme quality in ensured.
  • Continue a culture of continuous learning and sharing within BRAC and with the wider Graduation community of practice.
  • Support local, national and global advocacy of the Graduation approach to tackling ultra poverty.
  • Develop a strong cadre of leaders within the Graduation space at BRAC.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Proven record of strategic leadership in the development field with demonstrated ability to lead large and complex programmes.
  • Strong track record of successful fundraising from a diverse set of donors, from bilateral and multilateral to foundations and corporates.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A track record of developing leaders.

Experience Requirement:

A minimum of 15 years of relevant development experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role managing large and complex programmes. A person with experience of working internationally will be favoured.

Type of Employment : Regular/Contractual

Salary Range : Negotiable
