Organization: Medical Teams International
Country: Bangladesh
Closing date: 31 Dec 2019

Medical Teams International is leading a program to address the overall health and rehabilitation of affected communities in the Rohingya refugee camps in Cox’s Bazar district. Medical Teams delivers essential health services, including outpatient services, infant young child feeding (IYCF), oral rehydration, youth friendly spaces, maternity outpatient, and stabilization and referral services. Medical Teams currently runs three Primary Health Centers and two Health Posts that operate six days a week. Our Community Health Workers (CHW) programme operates in three camps in Kutapalong as well as in the Nayapara extension site. Our CHW programme aims to bridge the gap between the community and the health and social service system by navigating these services with and for the Rohingya; most notably by referring medical cases to appropriate facilities.

Project Activities

Ensuring high quality of care and the maintenance of appropriate clinical standards are areas identified by Medical Teams that need continual support in order that the Rohingya refugees receive an acceptable standard of care. Supported with an interpreter, Medical Teams International Volunteer healthcare personnel provide a high quality capacity building program to our national healthcare staff. Our program activities include group and one on one trainings as well as onsite mentoring and support.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

Our goal is to provide greater capacity building support to ensure better program sustainability for the 1.2 million refugees in need of integrated health services.
