Context:
Under the direct supervision of the Deputy Chief of Mission (DCoM), and in close coordination with relevant units including grants and programme units the successful candidate will be responsible in supporting the mission with implementing its localization strategy and developing private sector partnerships to increase funding opportunities with the private sector.
Core Functions / Responsibilities:
Develop a strategy and workplan to select local actors to participate in the localization programme.
Structure and conduct trainings for local actors to build capacity in areas of finance management, project development and report and general administration.
Pair local actors with relevant programme units and develop a shadowing programme where a learning exchange can take place.
Monitor the progress of local actors and provide reports and information to the mission as needed.
Ensure the inclusion of appropriate gender awareness, Accountability to Affected Populations and Protection programming for all local actors within the localization programme.
Ensure local actors feedback is captured and addressed to enhance the learning of the localization programme.
Establish and develop partnerships with companies and foundations that align with programmatic and funding objectives. Nurture existing partnerships and negotiate new partnership and grant agreements.
Ensure effective and efficient communication with private sector partners and build solid partnership work plans aimed at increasing engagement and funding opportunities. Liaise closely with the Programme Support Unit to draft funding proposals and reports specifically catered to private sector donors reporting and visibility requirements.
Liaise closely with Communications Unit to ensure partnerships are given adequate visibility, maximize visibility opportunities for IOM, and attract new prospects
Advise the DCoM in outreach activities and relationship building with the private sector. Generate timely and engaging content in partnership with PSU to disseminate to potential or current partners to provide current information and maintain informed relationships.
Perform such other duties as may be assigned.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
Education
• Master’s degree in Political or Social Science, Business Administration, International Relations, Law or a related field from an accredited academic institution with five years of relevant professional experience; or
• University degree in the above fields with seven years of relevant professional experience.
Experience
• Experience in building and conducting training;
• Experience in operational activities in post-crisis or emergency areas;
• Demonstrated high competency in organizing events and high-level interaction with donors;
• Work experience in the region is an advantage;
• Relevant professional experience in private sector partnerships, particularly in a humanitarian context and/or with humanitarian organizations.
Languages
IOM’s official languages are English, French and Spanish.
For this position, fluency in English is required (oral and written). Working knowledge of French and/or Spanish is an advantage.
