HI has been working in Bangladesh since 1997, with a focus on creating sustainable changes in terms of ensuring rights and inclusion of people with disabilities in society.
In Cox Bazar’s district, HI has a strong knowledge and experience in chronic emergency response. Thanks to three projects implemented before the crisis, HI is providing services in rehabilitation, protection and PSS, with an inclusive mainstreaming approach to refugees and host population. HI works not only with people with disabilities and other vulnerable populations, but also with their families, their communities, and the society, in order to provide sustainability in its action.
Emergency Response
In response to the massive influx of refugees, HI also set-up an emergency intervention responding to the needs of thousands of refugees. Multi-sectorial mobile teams are currently working in 13 camps located in both Teknaf and Ukhyia upzilas providing services in physical rehabilitation, health, protection and PSS. Because of the extremely vulnerability of certain persons, the mobile intervention helps reaching people forgotten by static activities.
Through its brands ATLAS logistics, HI set-up in 2018 two common storage platforms (Leda and Upchinprang) and is providing transport services to support other actors in their intervention.
In addition as part the Atlas strategy for 2020; HI/AL is looking for opportunities for expanding its activities in terms of Preparedness for Emergency response. In case this new sector of intervention gets funded, the Atlas Programme Manager will be expected to launch and oversee this set of activities.
JOB DESCRIPTION :
Under the direct responsibility of the Area Manager (AM) and with the support of the Country Service Support Coordinator (SSC, based in Dhaka) and Regional Logistics Advisor (based in Yangon, Myanmar), you will be responsible for the following:
• Ensure the respect of HI and donor Logistics guidelines (Supply Chain management (procurement and storage), equipment, fleet management , offices and guesthouses) on the mission;
• Supervise and provide logistic support to the different HI partners and projects supervised by the program;
• Coordinate the logistics activities all over the Cox’s Bazar District in close collaboration with the project staff and the support staff for the effective implementation of the activities;
• Directly manage the logistics staff; ensuring understanding and correct implementation of HI logistics and procurement procedures through formal and informal training.
• Report on regular basis about all logistics activities within the mission to the Area Manager and SSC.
The Logistics Coordinator’s role in Cox Area for the first semester of 2020 is to build the capacity of the newly recruited Area Supply Chain Manager and the Area General Services Manager, so they become fully autonomous on their respective area of responsibility. Both managers are in charge of ensuring the Logistics and Supply operations across all the locations where HI is working and have to manage logistics staff remotely. This role required a high degree and capacity to train, coach and closely monitoring.
The aim is to ensure the two managers are fully independent and will report directly to Dhaka Logisitics Management from the second semester of 2020.
The Logistics Coordinator will also support with the capacity building of all the other supply chain and general services team members in Cox’s Bazar area.
PROFILE SOUGHT :
High degree diploma is recommended in Logistics
Strong experience in the related field ( minimum 3 years)
Experience in NGO compulsory (2 years), preferably in emergency context
Minimum one year experience in assessment and/or mission opening (can be at regional level: base opening)
Minimum one year experience in emergency context
English mandatory (oral and written).
Strong interpersonal and intercultural skills
Ability to work under high pressure with a great level of personal organization
Diplomacy sense
CONDITIONS :
• Starting date : 15/01/2020
• Length of the contract: 6 months renewable
• Employee status, according to experience :
- Salary from 2800 € gross/month regarding the experience of the candidate
- Perdiem : 599 € net/month
- Hardship allowance : 250€ net/month

- Paid holiday : 25 days per year
- R&R : 5 days every 3 months
- Housing : Collective taken in charge by HI
