Position Summary
The Child Development Specialist’s primary job function is to help support a programme to identify, assess, and provide therapeutic recommendations for children with developmental delays, or those at risk for developmental delays. Responsibilities will include:
Mentoring and training Lao staff in developmental assessment and management of developmental challenges in children.
Development of a programme to identify, treat, and support children with these conditions.
Liaise with local and international organizations to support and coordinate these efforts.
Skills/Experience
Training and licensure in one of the following fields of child development:
clinical child psychology, child psychiatry, or developmental paediatrics
Consideration may be made for paediatric occupational/speech/physical therapists who have broad training in global assessment of child development
Work experience in developmental assessment of children and formulation of therapeutic plans
Ability to work in teams, particularly in cross-cultural settings
Experience in a low-resource environment preferred
Salary and Benefits
This is a grant-supported position which provides modest stipend and airfare. We require a minimum of one month commitment, but strongly prefer a longer period of service, up to 6+ months.
