ACDI/VOCA, a leading international development organization, based in Washington, D.C., is currently implementing a $6 million, five-year program entitled “Feed the Future Bangladesh Livestock Production for Improved Nutrition Project (LPIN)” funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). Through the Livestock Production for Improved Nutrition (LPIN) project, USAID/Bangladesh seeks to impact rural household nutrition by improving the utilization of livestock products, and Food Security. LPIN aims to increase livestock productivity through increased access to better livestock management techniques and primary animal health care services, improve access of rural households to hygienic, diverse, and quality food in order to enhance nutrition and health status, especially of women and children.

Job Summary:

The Chief of Party will serve as the lead supervisor, point of contact, and representative for all aspects of the Livestock Production for Improved Nutrition Program in Bangladesh. S/he will provide overall management oversight and technical direction and will guide the entire program with a clear, consistent and committed vision. The COP will lead the technical team in designing the technical and operational strategy, developing the program work plan and driving implementation of program activities. Additionally, s/he will monitor progress to ensure program goals are met on time and within budget, ensure compliance with USAID and ACDI/VOCA policies and procedures, and ensure that reporting requirements are met. The Chief of Party will oversee program administrative, human resources, budget pipeline, and finances.

Responsibilities:

· Provide oversight of technical assistance to rural households, the Government of Bangladesh, and other relevant stakeholders to facilitate the increase in the availability and utilization of diverse livestock products.

  • Lead the overall planning, implementation, and management of the project.

  • Establish administrative framework to monitor and assure progress toward the goals and objectives of the project.

  • Manage relationships with counterparts at various levels of government, NGOs, private sector associations, and stakeholders from international assistance projects.

  • Ensure quality control and timeliness of all deliverables.

  • Preparation or supervision of work plans, financial, logistical, and other documents.

  • Serve as principal liaison with USAID staff, institutions, and client country partners to exchange information and develop professional relationships.

  • Develop and facilitate verbal or written presentations as requested by the AOR.

Qualifications:

  • Should have a minimum educational qualification of a Master's degree in animal sciences or related field.

  • The required years of experience for personnel with Ph.D. degrees or higher can be three years less for the respective positions.

  • Must have a minimum of 15 years or more of work experience in managing and implementing livestock or agricultural development projects with demonstrated strong management and coordinating skills.

  • Have a record of achieving project objectives in a context of similar scope and challenges.

  • She/he must have a high level of interpersonal, communication, and diplomatic skills including the demonstrated ability to interact effectively and collaboratively with a broad range of public and private sector counterparts and other key stakeholders.

  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of the livestock sector and the importance of nutrition in the Regional context.

  • Should have a long-term commitment to work in Bangladesh.

  • Spoken and written fluency in English.
