RESENTATION

Educo (member of ChildFund Alliance in Spain) is a global development NGO. We defend children’s rights and promote sustainable social change by improving the living conditions of vulnerable populations, especially children. Our action is based on the Convention of the Rights of the Child. Out three institutional goals are: education, protection and governance.

Educo has been working in Asia since 1998, both through direct action and through local partners. Our work in the region has focused on Bangladesh, India and Philippines.

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THIS JOB?

Educo seeks to recruit a dynamic individual as Program Director, who will assume the leadership role to drive the Educo program across Bangladesh. The Program Director, under the general guidance of the Country Director and heading the Country Office program team, develops strategies that expand Educo’s programmatic work in Bangladesh that seeks to impact the lives of children by building capacity in local communities and working with partners to promote and defend the rights of children and their wellbeing.

The purpose of this role is to create and innovate new approaches and projects that expand Educo’s core programming principles. Program Director is required to critically assess existing models and frameworks and bring strategic shifts to enhance them. The Program Director leads development of relevant systems for improving efficiency and effectiveness of project management.

The incumbent is expected to have demonstrated innovation, brokered critical partnerships and influenced opinions (internally and externally). S/He would work very closely with the Country Director and should come with the ability to deputize for her when required.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop program strategies to achieve Country Office objectives in accordance with Educo’s global strategy and to grow the portfolio of projects into new areas of work, thematic and geographic.

  • Develop frameworks/processes that organize resources and establish time frames that support delivery of high quality program

  • Manage and build capacities in the program team and of local partners to ensure the team can optimally deliver on the objectives of the program

  • Improve approaches to program management that are consistent with best practices and new learnings to strengthen quality and build Educo’s capacity to deliver.

Broker collaborations and influence opinions and views of stakeholders through convincing engagement.

REQUISITES

  • Proven experience of closely working with children’s groups and child-led organisations and application of child friendly tools;

  • Strong understanding of a child rights-based approach and a gender approach;

  • Good knowledge of different participatory methodologies in every phase of a project cycle;

  • Prove experience of working with a results based management.

  • Proficient computer skills using Microsoft Office (Sharepoint; Advanced Word; Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)

  • A demonstrated commitment to Educo’s Vision, Mission and Values

  • Excellent communications skills (verbal, written, electronic); ability to communicate complex, technical information in a simple and articulate manner

  • Ability to adapt the international strategy in the local context;

  • Ability to speak and/or write in Spanish will be considered an asset

CONDITIONS:

REMUNERATION

Gross annual salary of 2.585.800 takas (all extra payments included).

LOCATION

The job will be based in Educo’s country office in Bangladesh.

DURATION OF CONTRACT

Permanent position with a probationary period of 6 months.
