Purpose for the job: The Mothers@Work Programme Coordinator reports to the Nutrition Specialist for supervision. The main purpose for the post is to provide professional operational and administrative assistance throughout the implementation of Mothers@Work programme at the Ready-Made Garment (RMG) companies, partners of Mothers@Work and in the community in which working mothers reside. The post is crucial to cater the scaling up of Mothers@Work from 2 RMG companies to 30 companies by mid of 2018. More RMG companies are expected to join the programme toward the end of 2018. It is important to maintain the pace quality of programme implementation that involve multiple stakeholders from the government such as Ministry of Labour and Employment (MoLE), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW); the private sector (30 RMG companies); civil society organizations that will form a consortium for capacity building and technical support for the companies to implement Mothers@Work; and ILO Better Work as a key UN partner for Mothers@Work.

How can you make a difference?

Program implementation, management, monitoring and delivery of results.

  • Work closely and collaboratively with internal and external colleagues and Mothers@Work partners to discuss operational and implementation issues, provide solutions, recommendations and/or alert appropriate officials and stakeholders for higher-level intervention and/or decision.
  • Coordinate with Enterprise Advisors of Mothers@Work in the development of monitoring tools, conduct evaluation exercises, program reviews and annual reviews with government and relevant stakeholders to assess programs/projects and to report on required action/interventions at the higher level of program management.
  • Monitor and report on the use of sectoral program resources (financial, administrative and other assets), verify compliance with approved allocation/goals, organizational rules, regulations/procedures and donor commitments, standards of accountability and integrity. Report on issues identified to ensure timely resolution by management/stakeholders. Follow up on unresolved issues to ensure resolution.
  • Conduct regular program field visits and surveys and/or exchange information with partners/stakeholders to assess progress and provide technical support, take appropriate action to resolve issues and/or refer to relevant officials for resolution. Report on critical issues, bottlenecks and potential problems for timely action to achieve results.
  • Prepare regular/mandated sectoral program/project reports for management, donors and partners to keep them informed of program progress.
  • Networking and partnership building

  • Build and sustain effective close working partnerships with government counterparts, particularly the Ministry of Labour and Employment through active sharing of information and knowledge to facilitate program implementation and build capacity of stakeholders to achieve program goals and social justice, equity and rights of mothers, new-born and children under the Mothers@Work programme.
  • Establish partnership consortium that will provide technical support to the RMG factories to strengthen the capacity of RMG partners to implement Mothers@Work programme.
  • Coordinate and lead the joint review meetings among Mothers@Work partners to address bottleneck for an improved implementation towards expected programme outputs
  • Work closely with CAP section to seek and align Mothers@Work programme with the Global Child and Rights Business Principal programming.
  • Innovation, knowledge management and capacity building

  • Keep record of reports and assessments for easy reference and/or to capture and institutionalize lessons learned.
  • Identify, capture, synthesize and share lessons learned for knowledge development and to build the capacity of stakeholders.
  • Apply innovative approaches and promote good practice to support the implementation and delivery of concrete and sustainable program results.
  • Research, benchmark and report on best and cutting edge practices for development planning of knowledge products and systems.
  • Participate as resource person in capacity building initiatives to enhance the competencies of clients/stakeholders.
  • To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Education:: A University Degree or higher in management, global/international health, or other health related science field is required.

    Experience:: A minimum of 8 years of professional experience in programme management and coordination in the health or relevant sectors; understanding of Labour Laws and maternity rights is an asset.

    Language Requirements:: Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language or a local language is an asset
