Context:
Under the overall supervision of the Emergency Coordinator of IOM Bangladesh and the direct supervision of the Inter-Sector Coordination Group (ISCG) Secretariat Manager the successful candidate will be responsible for:
Core Functions / Responsibilities:
Support the Secretariat Manager and Senior Coordinator in developing work plans, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and processes for the Situation and Analysis Unit and Secretariat as required.
Manages, develops, supervises and carries out the work programme of the Situation and Analysis Unit.
Ensures that all outputs produced by the unit under his/her supervision meet required standards before completion to ensure they comply with the relevant mandates/objective.
Supervises work related to assessments and lead the analysis of needs to support the development of adapted and timely programming by ISCG partners.
Assist ISCG sector partners to develops country-specific indicators in collaboration with area experts and ensures the subsequent monitoring of these indicators; recommends actions based on the analysis of pertinent information.
Promote and contribute to a comprehensive multi-threat risk analysis as the basis for humanitarian analysis and planning.
Supporting strategic and operational decision-making on the ongoing response through effective information management, analysis and reporting.
Support the development and implementation of a strategic approach to managing information around the humanitarian programme cycle, including supporting common information processes such as preparedness, needs assessment, strategic planning, resource mobilization, implementation and monitoring.
Establishing and maintaining an information management network to facilitate humanitarian information exchange and the promotion of data and information standards.
Advising the ISCG Secretariat manager and Senior Coordinator on operational information management, including strategic and immediate priorities.
Ensure the implementation of agreed work processes to develop situation reports, updates and other relevant information products that meet the needs of humanitarian leadership and other relevant stakeholders.
Provide training and expertise on the use and development of information management tools and platforms to humanitarian partners as well as department staff.
Chairing inter-agency IM Working Group meetings to ensure the right data is available for decision-making, monitoring, advocacy and reporting purposes.
Perform such other duties as may be required.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
Education
• Master’s degree in Information Management, Information Systems, Social Science or a related field from an accredited academic institution with five years of relevant professional experience; or
• University degree in the above fields with seven years of relevant professional experience.
Experience
• Experience in information management, information systems, web management, data management, geographic information systems & mapping, data visualization, or other related area, is required;
• Experience managing information in disaster response or complex emergencies is desirable;
• Relevant experience within the UN system or an international organization is desirable. Experience in the region is desirable;
• Experience in a complex emergency/refugee setting is desirable.
Languages
Fluency in English is required.
