Consultancy for Development of Life-Skills Curriculum for Adolescent Boys
Methodology
In order to develop the curriculum, the consultant will be expected to take the following steps:
- Identify and review existing literature around children in the Rohingya response and pre-displacement with a focus on adolescent boys (aged 13-17)
- Develop and share participatory assessment (FGD guidance) for field staff to conduct FGDs with adolescent boys in the camps to capture needs and preferences of the target group
- Gather feedback from FGDs to design the curriculum ensuring a participatory approach
- Create age and gender appropriate materials for facilitators to use with adolescent boys
- Develop the curriculum (5sessions to be delivered in 5 days - 1 session per day)
- Coordinate and communicate with Save the Children national field staff from the Rohingya response in Cox's Bazar to facilitate understanding for contextualization of the material
- Contextualize the material
- Finalize the life-skills curriculum for adolescent boys
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 5 years of progressively professional experience in child protection work, of which at least 3 in humanitarian or refugee context
- Master's degree in social work, psychology, social sciences or another related field
- Previous first phase emergency response experience
- Experience in programming for adolescents
- Good facilitation skills and ability to deliver briefings and trainings for a variety of audiences
- Flexible work attitude and ability to work independently or within a small team
- Ability to effectively communicate with a diverse and cross-cultural audience
- Ability to write clear and contextualized guidance and content
- A high level of written and spoken English
- The capacity and willingness to be extremely flexible and accommodating in stressful situations
- Commitment to the aims and principles of SC. In particular, a good understanding of the SC mandate and child focus and an ability to ensure this continues to underpin our support
