Bangladesh: Portfolio Lead - Large Scale Food Fortification and Value Chain

The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is searching for a Portfolio Lead to implement and oversee all GAIN Bangladesh Large-Scale Food Fortification (LSFF) programmes along with Agricultural Value Chain.

GAIN is a Swiss-based foundation launched at the UN in 2002 to tackle the human suffering caused by malnutrition. Working with both governments and businesses, we aim to transform food systems so that they deliver more nutritious food for all people. In particular, we aim to make healthier food choices more desirable, more available, and more affordable. GAIN’s mission is to advance nutrition outcomes by improving consumption of nutritious and safe food for all people, especially the most vulnerable to malnutrition.

The Portfolio Lead – Food Fortification and Value Chain will be directly responsible for the implementation of work streams for programmes under their leadership. This will include robust financial processes and mechanisms for reporting. This position is part of the Bangladesh senior management team and will require active participation in high-level decision making, advising on strategic programmatic areas, issues, communication and implementation of agreed decisions.

Key responsibilities include;

  • Manage LSFF program along with Agricultural Value Chain within GAIN Bangladesh portfolio and consortium
  • Regularly report on progress based on monitoring of implementation and budget and activities
  • Supervise program staff by providing direction, input and feedback
  • Regular interaction with partners to increase the profile of LSFF and business development among stakeholders, including the sharing of lessons learned

Candidates for this position should have previous experience of senior management within the development sector and / or government ministries. A strong track record of leading LSFF programmes is essential, as is the ability to successfully engage with and influence partners in the public and private sector. Fluency in English and Bangla is required for this role.
