The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is searching for a Programme Associate to work on an exciting programme aimed at improving workplace nutrition in Bangladesh.

GAIN is a Swiss-based foundation launched at the UN in 2002 to tackle the human suffering caused by malnutrition. Working with both governments and businesses, we aim to transform food systems so that they deliver more nutritious food for all people. In particular, we aim to make healthier food choices more desirable, more available, and more affordable. GAIN’s mission is to advance nutrition outcomes by improving consumption of nutritious and safe food for all people, especially the most vulnerable to malnutrition.

In Bangladesh, GAIN will implement a programme titled “Improving the diets of RMG workers”. This programme aims to achieve a healthier and more productive workforce by improving the diets of workers vulnerable to malnutrition.

The Programme Associate for Workplace Nutrition will be responsible for providing technical support to ensure effective and quality implementation of the project activities. They will work directly with executive agencies, RMG institutions, creative media, government & policy institutions and relevant strategic partners who are involved in similar activities for RMG workers. Responsibilities will include;

  • Contributing to the development of the project implementation plan
  • Reviewing progress against key performance indicators and targets.
  • Engagement and relationship building with key external stakeholders including factory owners, government ministries and the International Labour Organisation
  • Regular engagement with internal stakeholders including Targeted Dietary Programme Team, Knowledge Leadership and Finance team

Candidates for this position should have demonstrable experience of developing and managing projects in a multi-cultural environment within the private sector, nutrition and food system, government or international organisations. Fluency in English is essential, as is the ability to communicate and work effectively in challenging field-based scenarios.
