The Program
The goal of BEQUAL is to ensure all girls and boys, especially those experiencing disadvantage, complete a quality basic education to achieve literacy, numeracy and other life skills. The program will address education policy, planning and coordination, increased child participation in and access to basic education, teacher education and improved school infrastructure.
Coffey, through BEQUAL, is now seeking applications for a Primary and Preservice Curriculum and Materials Specialist (English) to join this significant and high performing education program.
The Position
The Primary and Preservice Curriculum and Materials Specialist (English) will provide on the job training and mentoring to MoES curriculum writers and materials developers to ensure alignment with the new curriculum framework and pedagogy, and materials that are contextually appropriate, gender sensitive, and inclusive of disadvantaged groups. This position will work in both the primary curriculum teams, in partnership with the Research Institute for Education Sciences (RIES), and the preservice curriculum team, in partnership with the Department of Teacher Education (DTE).
The Person
The Primary and Preservice Curriculum and Materials Specialist (English) will have tertiary qualifications in education and, ideally, a qualification related to technology-based learning and demonstrate experience working in primary education at the school or system level or in teacher education.
Coupled with your experience developing English language curriculum and teaching and learning resources for primary and teacher preservice education and experience developing or assisting with the development of technology-based education solutions, you will demonstrate capacity in the basic education sector in a developing country and low resource context.
With a strong understanding of technology-based education solutions, especially for learning and teaching foreign languages, you will demonstrate experience working in partnership with MoES counterparts and other colleagues and a strong understanding of international development agreements and principles including the aid effectiveness agenda and Sustainable Development Goals.
With the ability to mainstream gender equality, disability and social inclusion into activities, and address child protection policy commitments, you will demonstrate the ability to effectively self-manage your priorities and deadlines while working effectively with senior management and implementing teams to deliver results.
A strong ability to coach and mentor colleagues from diverse social or cultural backgrounds is essential. Previous experience within South East Asia or Lao PDR is highly desirable.
