Bangladesh: An Emergency Mental Health and Care Practices Coordinator - Bangladesh

Context:

Action Against Hunger- Bangladesh has been implementing Mental Health and Care Practices (MHCP) programmes in Cox’s Bazar since 2009 in Cox’s Bazar. Since 25th August 2017 more than 600.000 refugees from Myanmar crossed the border into Bangladesh and settle in existing camps, makeshift settlements as well as new settlements. Since the influx Action Against Hunger has scaled up its MHCP response in the new settlements as well as existing settlements and camps. The influx of refugees has also attracted NGO’s and UN agencies for a response to the crisis. Coordination and collaboration is essential for an effective MHCP response.

Action Against Hunger requires an Emergency Mental Health & Care Practices Coordinator with very good experience in MHPSS based in Cox’s Bazar

Length of contract: 3 months (with possible extension) starting as soon as possible**

The position:

Under the direct supervision of the Field Coordinator and functional management of the Mental Health and Care Practices Technical Advisor, your main objective will be to manage emergency MHCP programs and to ensure quality response, as well as provide technical support to ACF project staff on nutrition and health programs planning, implementation and coordination.

More precisely, you will be in charge to:

· Represent Action Against Hunger in coordination meetings with other agencies and different sectors (Health, GBV and Child Protection, IYCF E Working Group and others) and enhance collaboration.

· Support the lead of MHPSS coordination group in Cox’s Bazar and ensure together with Sr. PM MHCP/MHPSS mapping, gap analysis, coordination and communication, information flow between the stakeholders and communication with the health sector and between the working group and the other sectors.

· Together with the team in Cox to ensure ACF’s active participation and feed into the Humanitarian Response Plan of 2018 (starting in November – January)

· Ensure quality intervention of Baby Friendly Spaces and other MHPSS/CP intervention according to ACF MHCP response strategy

· Ensure integration of activities with other ACF sectors and partners at Cox’s Bazar level in emergency response

· Support to define and improve MHPSS and Care Practices monitoring tools (internally and with partners)

· Ensure flow and analysis of MHCP information in emergency response within ACF and between departments

· Strengthen and mentor, the current Sr. PM in Cox as well as MHCP coordinator on emergency response

· Ensure quality of needs assessment and reports on MHCP

· Reinforce collaboration between ACF & partners (IRC team, TdH/Mukti, Action Aid) regarding protection activities

· Technical capacity building of ACF staffs.

The applicant: You hold a Master’s degree in Clinical psychology or psychiatry with at least two years of field experience with NGOs in clinical, intercultural or humanitarian psychology. You have a proven experience in proposal writing and in emergency response management (ideally remote management).

You have demonstrated experience managing complex operations in challenging contexts and excellent inter-personal skills. You do have a good sense of confidentiality and possess a cultural sensitivity. You already have an experience working in conflict affected insecure locations.

You are recognize for your excellent oral and written capacities in English

Status:

Gross monthly salary ranging from €1805 to €2305 depending on relevant experience

Food and hygiene expenses, per diem, transportation costs, collective or individual accommodation, medical insurance

25 days of annual paid leaves and 20 days of rest and recuperation (R&R) per year
