Bangladesh: Head of Humanitarian Programmes - Asia & the Middle East

About the role

As Head of Humanitarian Programmes for Asia and the Middle East, you will be responsible for leading Christian Aid's humanitarian work in the region. You will play a key role in setting the direction for new emergency responses and working alongside country teams promote emergency preparedness and disaster risk reduction. Christian Aid is entering a new phase with a new strategic direction which emphasises the importance of addressing urgent humanitarian need but doing so in a way that puts the affected person at the centre of everything we do. As a member of the humanitarian leadership team, you will play a central role in operationalising the new exciting strategy.

The post can be based in any Christian Aid country office in the region or London or Dublin. The post holder must be able to travel for approximately 3 months in any one year.

About you

You will have a passion for delivering high-quality humanitarian programmes that put accountability to the affected populations at the centre. You will have considerable experience leading emergency response programmes both in the field and at a head office or regional level. You will have an excellent understanding of humanitarian donors and success in accessing institutional funds. Ideally, you will have experience working for a partnership based organisation and implementing new innovative programme methodologies. You will have excellent interpersonal skills with a proven track record of working with people from many parts of the world. Above all, you will have a passion for working together with others to achieve changes in the world that both saves lives and reduces suffering during a crisis and supports people to rebuild their lives with dignity so they can live their lives to the full in the future.
